Together WE make a brighter future
When you truly understand the history, your perspective will change. Truth matters—and the truth is that Black people were treated inhumanely for centuries. These crimes against humanity cannot and will not be forgotten. It doesn't matter that those who committed these atrocities are no longer alive—the systems that allowed it, and the governments that were complicit, are still here.
Both the Federal and State governments played active roles in perpetuating slavery and segregation, and they remain responsible for addressing the lasting effects. Many corporations and descendants of plantation owners who directly benefited from slavery are still thriving today. We can connect the dots—and we must connect the dots—to understand the scope of this injustice and how it continues to shape the present.
You don’t need to be Black to have compassion or to demand justice. It’s about recognizing that an immense wrong was done, and it’s up to all of us, as a society, to set things right. To those who have stayed silent, especially White people, it’s time to wake up. Reparations are not just a symbolic gesture—they are a necessary step toward justice, and they must happen in this generation, within this decade.
The best way to address this historic injustice is by creating policies that aim to close the persistent wealth gap, income gap, education gap, housing gap, and health gap between Black and White communities. These disparities are the direct result of centuries of systemic racism and exploitation, and they will not disappear without deliberate action.
It’s time to get involved. Become an antiracist. Use your voice, your actions, and your influence to push for change. Together, we can build a more just and equitable society—but it starts with truth, compassion, and a commitment to making things right.
Be the change you want to see in the world
